As the holiday season approaches, retailers and shoppers are preparing for the busiest time of year. The new Retail Perceptions report from Interactions, “The Holiday Shopper: Trends to Expect this Season” found that 34 percent of shoppers surveyed plan to begin their holiday shopping before Halloween. Most shoppers will be looking for value this season through multiple channels, with 79.5 planning to purchase holiday gifts from both brick-and-mortar stores and online vendors.
Through this original study, Interactions asked shoppers about their spending habits during this upcoming holiday season. Which gift categories will be popular this year, and where will shoppers find gift inspiration? Will mobile commerce finally take center stage over in-store and traditional online channels? The holiday season means big sales for retailers—but only for retailers who can stand out from the rest and who are ready to give shoppers what they’re looking for, where they’re looking for it.
Make sure to read “Opportunities for Retailers and CPGs” at the end of this report for additional findings, along with ways to leverage shopper insights to attract shoppers and stay relevant this holiday season.
